“Give It a Try,” Says HCT Sydney Winner

0 komentar

Another awesome Tour Stop is in the books, and the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) has yet another surprise victor in Jack “Jakattack” Gifford. The 23-year-old New Zealand native recently graduated from Canterbury University, and is about to start a new job with an accounting firm. Amidst all that, he thought it would be fun to attend HCT Sydney. “My expectation was to show up, have fun, go 0-2, and then head off to work,” says Jakattack. “Prior to this event, I had no competitive Hearthstone experience.” Regardless of his experience level, Jakattack’s decision to compete paid off. Jakattack didn’t set out on this path on purpose—even his registration was a bit of an accident. “If it wasn’t for the client advertisement for HCT Sydney, I would still be casually playing OTK Paladin,” Jakattack says, referring to the first screen players see when they load up the game. “My competitive Hearthstone career wasn’t even a consideration until this event.” Looking at what other options are available to him now, he says he wants to fight for some strong ladder finishes for points to try and qualify for Playoffs, or to potentially represent New Zealand in the Hearthstone Global Games (HGG). Speaking to his strategy for the tournament, Jakattack admits he mostly wanted to play decks he was already enjoying. “That meant my first two decks were Spiteful Priest and OTK Paladin. After those two decks, I decided to build around a strategy of targeting the greedy Control Mages that had dominated previous HCT tournaments by picking Tempo Mage and the more aggressive Cube Warlock over Control.” By choosing between banning faster Paladin decks and Quest Rogue, Jakattack could either secure a better match for his own Mage or protect the remainder of his lineup, respectively. Above all, Jakattack’s biggest takeaway from HCT Sydney was that more people should be competing. “If you want to get into the competitive scene, just get out there and give it a try,” he says. “I think a lot of players don’t understand how easy it is to get started, or how far you can go if you just have fun and play your own game.” He also felt that the Hearthstone competitive scene was welcoming, and that players shouldn’t shy away from getting involved. Congratulations once again to Jakattack on his epic victory! We hope to see more of him in the coming months—and that his success inspires even more new faces to join us at future Tour Stops! Do you think you have what it takes to compete in a Tour Stop? What deck lineup would you bring? Check back soon for the next instalment of What Sets the Pros Apart, where we’ll have a new feature about how to put together a tournament-worthy suite of decks.

The Year of the Raven Soars Ahead

0 komentar

Each Hearthstone Year is symbolized by one of the zodiac constellations twinkling in Azeroth’s night sky. The moment when a new constellation comes into alignment heralds the start of the year and a time of jubilation and raucous revelry wherever Hearthstone is played! This year, we wave farewell to the Year of the Mammoth, and prepare to greet the Year of the Raven! Set Rotation is Coming Two years ago, we introduced a New Way to Play, which brought the Standard and Wild game formats to Hearthstone. In order to keep Hearthstone exciting and accessible as more cards are added, Standard allows players to use the most recently released cards, as well as a core of Basic and Classic cards. Our intention with Standard is to keep the game feeling fresh for all of our players, and to allow newer players to jump into Hearthstone quickly, without the need to collect lots of cards to build a competitive deck. Standard also gives our developers more freedom when designing new cards for the future. When we release the first new expansion each year, every set that wasn’t released in the same year or the year prior will cycle out and no longer be part of the Standard format. If you want cards for Wild play or just to fill out your collection, you’ll be able to craft them using Arcane Dust—even cards from Adventures (like One Night in Karazhan) that were previously un-craftable. While no longer be available for purchase in-game, you can also purchase content that is exclusive to Wild from the online shop. On Raven’s Wings Hearthstone’s astrological clock is tick-tocking toward the new Hearthstone Year, and when the next expansion arrives, you’ll also be greeted with an Standard format! You’ll be able to build Standard decks using the following sets: Basic Classic Journey to Un’Goro Knights of the Frozen Throne Kobolds & Catacombs The first 2018 expansion Meanwhile, the following sets become exclusive to Wild, along with all previous sets: Whispers of the Old Gods One Night in Karazhan Mean Streets of Gadgetzan A new Hearthstone Year also means three new expansions! Can you guess what the future holds in store? Hall of Fame Inductees To help meet the goal of keeping Hearthstone fresh, certain cards from the Classic set will become exclusive to the Wild format. These cards will be added to the Hall of Fame set. This year, the following cards will be promoted to the Hall of Fame: Ice Block – This Mage secret is a powerful card, and has been the centerpiece of Standard decks for years. It’s time to make more room for new Mage decks in Standard. Coldlight Oracle – Coldlight Oracle is becoming exclusive to Wild for several reasons. It offers unusually strong neutral card draw which can be detrimental to class identity. Its “downside” can destroy opponent's cards and prevent opponents from playing the deck they built—which in turn limits some designs related to Battlecry and effects that return a minion to hand. Taken individually, any one of these reasons might have been enough to prompt a promotion to the Hall of Fame, but when viewed as a whole, we feel that it’s time for Coldlight Oracle to leave Standard play. Molten Giant – Moving Molten Giant to the Hall of Fame allows us to revert it to its original mana cost, giving players a chance to experiment with decks featuring Molten Giants in the Wild format. Just like last year, you can keep your copies of these card once they move to the Hall of Fame, and you’ll be granted Arcane Dust as if you had disenchanted them (up to the maximum number that can be used in a deck). The dust will be automatically awarded once you log-in after the Year of the Raven begins. Quicker Quests With the arrival of Hearthstone’s next expansion, quests are about to get better! The requirements for almost every quest will be reduced to make them faster to complete, and all 40 gold quests will now award 50 gold instead. Quests that awarded more than 50 gold will still have the same rewards, but with reduced requirements. Quests that only required a single game to be played, such as Play a Friend, will remain the same. Here are some examples: Only the Mighty OLD: Play 20 minions that cost 5 or more. Reward 40 gold NEW: Play 12 minions that cost 5 or more. Reward: 50 gold Class Victory OLD: Win 2 games with one of two Classes. Reward: 40 gold. NEW: Win 1 game with one of two Classes. Reward: 50 gold Class Mastery OLD: Play 50 Class cards. Reward: 60 gold NEW: Play 30 Class cards. Reward: 60 gold We’re not stopping here—we’ve got our eye on more quests improvements for the future! In-game Tournaments We’re working on a feature that will help you run a Hearthstone tournament from your own home or Fireside Gathering! You’ll be able to create a custom tournament and invite your friends--all from within the Hearthstone game client. To start, the feature will include matchmaking and checking decks, but we’ll continue to add new features and functionality over time. We’re planning to launch in-game tournaments as a beta around the middle of this year, but that's just the beginning. There's a lot of potential to explore as we expand on this very early version of in-game tournaments, and your feedback will help us shape them over the course of the coming year and beyond. New Druid Hero: Lunara Lunara is the eldest daughter of the demi-god Cenarius. While her sisters, the dryads, embody peace and the serene beauty of nature, Lunara’s apple didn’t fall far from her father’s tree—she’s a relentless defender of the wilderness and immortal proof that nature is red in claw and thorn. When your dad is a demi-god, and your grandparents are the goddess of the Moon and a god of the Wild, you’ve got a reputation to uphold. Lunara is more than up to the task. Win 10 games of Hearthstone in Standard Ranked or Casual mode after the next expansion officially launches to add this ferocious champion of the wild to your Collection. Last chance for Maiev! With the launch of the first new expansion of 2018, you will no longer be able to acquire the quest to obtain Maiev Shadowsong. If you’ve been away, be sure to obtain Maiev before the next expansion arrives so you don’t miss your chance! Fireside Gathering Fun If you’re not familiar with Fireside Gatherings, they’re a great way to get out and meet people just as passionate about Hearthstone as you are! Fireside Gatherings mean a lot to us, and we’re working on even more features to support them during the Year of the Raven! Raven’s Watch Want to know more about the Year of the Raven? Ask your questions in the comments, then tune into the official Hearthstone Twitch.tv stream on March 2 at 11:00 am PST to join Game Director Ben Brode and Lead Producer Yong Woo for a Q&A session about the new Hearthstone Year! Thanks for joining us! We’re excited to share a new Hearthstone year with you, and we’ll see you in the Tavern!

Looking Back on a Year of Mammoth Proportions!

0 komentar

The Year of the Mammoth brought some exciting and impactful changes for players. New cards and deck archetypes were introduced that allowed players to find creative ways to enjoy the game. Quests, Death Knight Hero Cards, and Dungeon Runs brought new ways to play. We also said farewell to iconic cards and mechanics that forever changed the game. Today we are going to look at how Hearthstone decks have changed from the Year of the Mammoth’s announcement to today. Don't forget, you can make your own mammoth memories by purchasing the Year of the Mammoth Bundle! Available through March 11, 2018. An announcement of Mammoth Proportions! When the Year of the Mammoth was announced, the Hearthstone’s landscape was very different than it is today. The Hall of Fame had yet to be announced, and players were taking full advantage of the Year of the Kraken’s expansions: Whispers of the Old Gods, One Night in Karazhan and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. The 2017 Hearthstone Winter Championship marked the last time we experienced Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament and League of Explorers in a Standard competition. With these sets leaving the format, we said goodbye to some of their most popular cards. Hall of Fame To keep Hearthstone exciting and accessible as more cards come into the game, the Hearthstone team took a look at certain cards in the Classic set that many considered to be “auto-includes” for many decks. To help keep the meta fresh and allow players to create and encounter new strategies in the Standard format, six cards were moved to the Hall of Fame. These cards could still be used in Wild formats, but would no longer be available for Standard play. Embarking on a Journey! Journey to Un’Goro was the first set released during the Year of the Mammoth. Players joined Elise Starseeker and her junior explorers on an expedition into Azeroth’s prehistoric Un’Goro Crater. Journey to Un’Goro introduced Quests and the Adapt mechanic. While Quests helped players to focus on specific strategies, Adapt gave players a chance to discover multiple options of keywords from a single card, giving players new tools to employ on their path to victory. Caverns Below Fire Plume's Heart Jade Shaman All Shall Fall! Knights of the Frozen Throne gave players a taste of undeath in the form of Death Knight Hero Cards and the wicked Lifesteal mechanic. Empowered by the Lich King himself, players brought a chill to their Collections and fought for their place at the top of the ladder. Kazakus Priest Jade Druid Murloc Paladin No Take Candle! The last set to come out in the Year of the Mammoth brought players into an underground world full of traps . . . and treasures! Kobolds and Catacombs opened up a whole new realm of possibilities, as players took hold of Legendary Weapons and brought minions directly into the fray with the new Recruit mechanic. Spell Hunter Spiteful Druid Secret Mage Releasing Cards into the Wild With every set rotation, we must say farewell to the cards that helped to define our favorite decks. Here’s a look at a few of our favorites that will be joining the ranks of Wild at the end of the Year of the Mammoth. Whispers of the Old Gods Fandral Staghelm Call of the Wild Cabalist's Tome Ragnaros, Lightlord Shadow Word: Horror Undercity Huckster Thing from Below Darkshire Councilman Ravaging Ghoul N'Zoth, the Corruptor One Night in Karazhan Barnes Medivh, the Guardian Enchanted Raven Kindly Grandmother Firelands Portal Ivory Knight Priest of the Feast Swashburglar Maelstrom Portal Malchezaar's Imp Mean Streets of Gadgetzan Mistress of Mixtures Doppelgangster Jade Idol Alleycat Kabal Lackey Wickerflame Burnbristle Dragonfire Potion Devolve Abyssal Enforcer Sleep With the Fishes Aya Blackpaw Kazakus An All New Standard! The end of one Hearthstone Year means the beginning of another! What will the new year bring? Game-changing keywords? Mighty new mechanics? Incredible minions and spells?!? Only time will tell—we can’t wait to show you what’s next!

Meet HCT 2018's First Tour Stop Winner

0 komentar

We’re just a few weeks into the first season of the 2018 Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT), and we’ve already crowned an exciting victor after the year’s first Tour Stop in Andrej “Bequiet” Traudt. Although he’s played in other tournaments before, HCT Germany was his first stage performance—and we spoke with him afterward to learn more about the first of hopefully many breakout players from the Tour Stop ecosystem. Prior to getting started with Hearthstone, Bequiet played for a couple of different organizations in competitive FIFA. Now, at 29 years old, he’s more focused on his full-time industrial mechanical job, as well as trying to be more physically active—but he’s been playing Hearthstone for quite a while. “I picked up Hearthstone in beta,” Bequiet says. “I came back after a year or so, and got legend multiple months in a row.” That was the point at which he decided to see where it could take him. His years of practice took him to Dreamhack Sweden, where he enjoyed the competition and the camaraderie, but didn’t advance to the playoffs. In the weeks prior to HCT Germany, Bequiet missed his goal of a high finish on the Hearthstone ladder in January, so he chose to wait for the recent balance changes to test decks for the tournament. That testing led him to a field of aggressive and control-oriented options. “The most comfortable deck for me was Murloc Paladin,” Bequiet says. He also preferred the Cube Warlock style to Control, and leaned on that, a Big Priest, and the surprising N’Zoth Control Mage to round out his lineup. “Early Deathrattle minions like Plated Beetle were better against decks like Secret Mage, and cutting cards like Alanna felt safe against the lineup I expected,” he explains. His only fear was playing into the emerging one-turn-kill (OTK) Uther of the Ebon Blade Paladin deck. After his success in HCT Germany, Bequiet is now eyeing the rest of the season enthusiastically: “I wanna go for playoffs, so I have to grind some ladder. I'm looking at more Tour Stops, too.” Asked what he would tell other players who might want to enter the competitive scene, the German player is all optimism. “Start competing in tournaments,” he says. “Don’t be afraid to start.” He goes on to explain that despite his “older age” he is still able to compete and enjoy his other hobbies, and has the support of his girlfriend and family. For serious competitors, he recommends getting some help. “Have a group around you," Bequiet says. "Practice groups help a lot—you can talk about different lines of play." After his great breakout performance at HCT Germany, we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on Bequiet for the rest of HCT 2018 Season 1. Are you thinking about competing in a Tour Stop after reading about Bequiet’s journey? Have you tried out one of his deck lists and loved it? Let us know in the comments, or join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter using #HCT.

Off-Meta Spotlight - February 16th, 2018

0 komentar

Greetings! One of the greatest joys in Hearthstone is watching players adapt and grow throughout the course of a competitive season. We’re always surprised and inspired by the inventive deck ideas that spring up on the ladder in the face of stiff competition. Today, we’re highlighting a few of the most imaginative decks that have been performing well at the rank of Legend. To find these decks, we scoured the rankings for players that did well last week, and picked out some interesting builds from among these top performers. We only selected decks that were played in games at the rank of Legend after the recent balance changes. Kicking things off, we have Samerebro from the EU server, who utilized the new “Recruit” mechanic to achieve an impressive 70% win rate with his control-focused Warrior deck. If you can manage to recruit Grommosh Hellscream by attacking with Woecleaver, then follow up with Sudden Genesis and Inner Rage, you’ll be able to deal 31 damage in a single turn! Also showing great success on the EU server is Romchit, who managed to pull off a 67% win rate with this Elemental-themed Shaman deck. Combining cards that put multiple minions into play with Shaman’s ability to replay and upgrade these minions helps to secure solid board control and eventually, victory! Lastly, we have a Hunter deck that has proven successful for several different players. Currently the fifth best deck on the ladder, this arsenal combines Secrets and early control to clear the way for some very dangerous beasts, such as Savannah Highmane, King Krush, or one of Deathstalker Rexxar’s Zombeasts. Congrats to the players who implemented these crafty deck ideas to climb the ranks of Legend! What are some of the craziest decks you’ve recently played with—or against—on the ladder? Let us know on Twitter, Facebook, or in the comments below!

What Sets the Pros Apart: Mulligans with AKAWonder

0 komentar

For this chapter of What Sets the Pros Apart, we’re joined by Esteban “AKAWonder” Serrano from SK Gaming to learn more about mulligans—which cards you keep in your initial hand, and which ones you shuffle back into your deck for an alternate initial draw. (Knowing what to hold and what to throw away is difficult, even for the world’s best players!) If you haven’t heard of AKAWonder, you may not follow the Spanish Hearthstone scene, or might have missed the ESL Legendary Series in 2016 in Katowice, where he took first place. Priest fans are often directed to AKAWonder’s teammate, Dawid “Zetalot” Skalski, who rounds out the current SK Gaming roster. Prior to Hearthstone, AKAWonder wasn’t a collectible card game player, instead preferring the strategy of games like poker or chess. As a notable high-level Hearthstone player today, AKAWonder focuses heavily on how to mulligan as a vector for improvement! The strategy behind how to mulligan is complex, in part because no two games or situations are the same. For example, if you play a deck with 30 unique cards—perhaps for cards like Raza, or Kazakus—you have 837,000 potential mulligan combinations. And that’s just thinking about your own deck! Thinking about those kinds of numbers can be intimidating, so AKAWonder breaks it down. “The variables that affect your mulligan are: if you have The Coin or not, your opponent’s anticipated archetype, what else is in your deck, and your initial draw’s curve.” Archetype here refers to what style or speed of deck your opponent is running—faster and more aggressive, or slower and more control-oriented—and curve refers to the incremental Mana cost of your cards (since you want to make an effective play every turn). Doing the delicate dance among different archetypes is part of the unique challenge of the mulligan phase. AKAWonder notes that you mulligan both based on your own archetype, but also on what you predict your opponent will be playing. He says, “If you’re playing an aggro deck, you always mulligan for your early drops—particularly for cards that give you early tempo. If you are playing against a control deck that has counters to [your early drops], you might mulligan for more expensive cards.” As an example, AKAWonder points to Rogue, where going second and having The Coin can heavily influence whether or not you hold Combo cards. AKAWonder also notes that mulligans are very different if you’ve made it to an event. “In a tournament environment, you know what your opponent is playing, so you will throw away cards in your mulligan that set up valuable trades for your opponent,” he says. That strategy doesn’t translate well to a typical Ranked Play game, though: “It’s very hard to mulligan correctly—not only because of counters, but because you never know the archetype you are facing.” In order to improve over time, AKAWonder recommends focusing on one deck for a period of time. “When you get used to playing one deck, you realize what your win conditions against different archetypes are,” he says. “Experience will teach you what you can get away with keeping, and how much risk you can afford to take.” The biggest lesson AKAWonder would leave you with, however, is knowing that your mulligan is one of the only parts of the game you have complete control over. “In a phase of the game where you have all the power and all the decisions in your hand, you need to make sure to do the correct things,” he says. “There are different kinds of mistakes. Some people just mulligan the same way regardless of the variables. Amateur players often don’t know the key moments well enough, and their mulligan will improve when they’ve played more games.” Above all, he says, “Your mulligan is always different.” Treating each match as new, unique, and different will help you focus on the game at hand! Thanks for reading this installment of What Sets the Pros Apart, featuring AKAWonder. And don’t forget to check out the first feature on board positioning if you missed that one, too! What’s the best mulligan advice you’ve ever received? Can you point to a time that your mulligan decision-making set you up to succeed? Share it with us in the comments.

Malto's Guided Tours: The League of Explorers

0 komentar

Greetings, friend! It is excellent that you are here! I, Malto, am your humble host, and one of my favorite pastimes is to help heroes like you defeat some of the most powerful encounters in Hearthstone. My apologies, but did you accompany us on last week’s tour of Blackrock Mountain? I am usually better at remembering friendly faces, but the smoke was exceptionally thick in the depths of the Firelord’s lair. Today, we shall fall in step with of some of Azeroth’s finest pathfinders: the League of Explorers! We’ll accompany these famed adventurers on a journey through exotic and dangerous locales, in search of an ancient Titan artifact: the Staff of Origination. We must be wary, as we won’t be the only ones searching for this lost relic. Dangers lurks around every turn, waiting for curious travelers to make just one wrong move. But fear not—on Malto’s Guided Tours, your safety is virtually guaranteed! Our exceedingly safe search for the Staff of Origination will take us to four unique locations: we’ll raid the Temple of Osiris with Reno Jackson, traverse the haunted halls of Uldaman with Brann Bronzebeard, sack the Ruined City with Sir Mrrgglton, and return to the Hall of Explorers with Elise Starseeker. With any luck, we’ll find exactly what we’re looking for! We have quite the adventure ahead of us, so let’s not keep the League waiting any longer! Temple of Osiris Zinaar Sun Raider Phaerix Temple Escape Uldaman Chieftain Scarvash Archaedas The Ruined City Lord Slitherspear Giantfin Lady Naz'jar Hall of Explorers Skelesaurus Hex The Steel Sentinel Arch-Thief Rafaam Rafaam Unleashed Hopefully my advice will help you track down the lost Titan artifact, and maybe even leave a good impression with the League! If you still find yourself longing for ancient treasures, you can find the Hearthstone Adventures of old on the Blizzard Shop! One moment, now. What’s this raven carrying? An invitation! My, the majestic mage Medivh is planning the biggest party Azeroth has ever seen—and we’re invited! Get your best robes pressed, and join me next week as we relive the evening of a lifetime: One Night in Karazhan! Looking for more of Malto's Guided Tours? HCT World Champion tom60229 on How He Won

0 komentar

After a long and challenging career in competitive Hearthstone, Taiwan's ever-consistent Chen “tom60229” Wei-Lin hoisted the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) World Championship trophy in Amsterdam on Jan. 21. It was an accomplishment that he had chased for many years, and now, he’s able to look back with pride on the ups and downs of his path to becoming the World Champion. We got time with tom60229 to ask him a few questions about himself, as well as get a glimpse into the choices he made at the HCT World Championship to secure his victory. Who was your practice partner MVP? Pinpingho is the person who played with me the most. If he was online and I had a need, he would practice with me. Pinpingho is also the strongest. I also observed my teammates’ strategies. What is your role in your practice group? “Big Brother” was a nickname that they gave me. The players in Taiwan are very familiar with each other. A lot of us started out playing mahjong, for example. We could come together to play games, have meals, and come up with strategies. I’m more like the coach in the practice group. What was your practice regimen for the World Championship? I think the previous patch came out on December 11, so I spent almost the entire month at home practicing diligently. It was only during the All-Star Invitational that I left home, and I treated that as a break for myself. My initial goal was to test out the HCT decks at the All-Star Invitational, but then I realized that the meta changed—for example, Jade Druids and other decks appeared after the All-Star Invitational. Most of the preparation was carried out after that. The new deck types that appeared gave me some work to do. All I did was eat, sleep, and play Hearthstone. There was also a slight difference in my regimen after turning in my lineup for the tournament. I tried to focus more on decks rarely seen on ladder, and I would ask my Skype group to test them out with me. How did you determine your deck lineup for the HCT World Championship? With Priest, the Jade Druid, and a Rogue deck in place, I had to decide whether to bring a Cube Warlock or a Control Warlock. Everyone knew before the tournament that Warlocks would always be banned, so I think Cube Warlock is more advantageous than Control Warlock, because Cube Warlock does better against Priest. Control Warlock could have given my opponent a preference to not ban Warlock, which would have put me at a disadvantage. I didn’t want my opponent to not ban Warlock. Looking back, would you change anything about your deck choices? I’m rather satisfied with the cards in the individual decks. In terms of the deck types, Rogue was a last choice, and a possible candidate would have been Control Mage. You would bring a Druid, and Priest and Warlock were still a must, so it comes down to Rogue or Mage. I hadn’t tested a Control Mage, so I don’t know if it would have been better than a Rogue. What was your ban strategy? If you look at my lineup, two of my decks fare badly against Warlocks. There’s no reason for me not to ban Warlock. What is your style as a player? Do you prefer certain archetypes or strategies? In terms of my style, I would say I might lean toward being more conservative. If I have alternatives, I would prefer not to rely on RNG. When I’m playing a match, you play the cards you get—that’s how matches always are. Some players tend to be always conservative, but I don’t think that’s the right mentality. It’s always determined by what your opponent plays, what’s currently on the board, and what cards you got dealt. It’s an always-changing decision, whether you want to go for defensive or play offensively. If you ask about my preferred decks, some time ago I would immediately say I prefer midrange or control decks. This year, I think I have been doing well with aggro decks, and I’m starting to get a feel for aggro decks. I wouldn’t leave out certain deck types because of my personal preference nowadays. How did disappointment with your results at the 2014 Hearthstone World Championship affect you? I wouldn’t say that it affected me badly—I performed badly, so I lost. That experience made me want to make sure that I’d never repeat this mistake again, and at least allow me to reach my normal performance level. The reason I performed badly might have been due to stage fright, and I actually played a card that I seldom played on ladder—which was a misplay due to being nervous on stage. This experience made me tell myself I would never be set back by stage fright any more. As the new HCT World Champion, what advice would you give to an aspiring player? For a new player, I would say: play more Hearthstone. Try to get more experience. For a player trying to move up a level, simply playing more matches is not enough. The player needs to put in more thought. You have to try and think about what your opponent would do. If your opponent plays a card that is unexpected, then you have to think—was it because you misplayed? Should you have been on guard for that choice? This is the easiest way to improve: always think what your opponent would do. You should be able to envision each turn, starting from the mulligan. As you get better at the game, there should be fewer and fewer surprises. What do you want to accomplish in 2018? Preparing for a tournament is very hard work. Perhaps for 2018, I will be focusing more on being a streamer and on the streaming side of my career. Of course, I will still compete in tournaments, but I will not be focusing as much on my ranking as before. If I get to appear at HCT again, I will still go all out. Congratulations once again to tom60229 on his incredible victory! You can relive the entire tournament by checking out the VODs on YouTube. What questions would you ask tom60229? Let us know in the comments, or hit us up with them on Facebook or Twitter using #HCT.

Wildfest is Coming!

0 komentar

Celebrate all things Hearthstone with Wildfest, February 19 – March 11. We’ll be spicing up the Arena and offering exciting new Tavern Brawls, so get ready to go Wild! Wild Arena Starting on February 19 and lasting through March 11, the Arena draft will offer cards that are exclusive to Wild. Have an existing Arena run going? Be sure to finish it up before Wildfest begins – existing Arena runs will be retired automatically at the start of Wildfest. We’ll remind you that Wildfest is coming, so you have ample time to finish your runs before the fun commences. Behold the Brawliseum! We’ve fashioned two Tavern Brawls celebrating Wild for you to partake in over the course of Wildfest: Venture Into the Wild and The Wild Brawliseum. Venture Into the Wild is a pre-constructed Wild Tavern Brawl that anyone can pick up and play in a snap. Just pick a class, and we’ll outfit you with a Wild deck that’s ready to rumble. We’ll leave the decks themselves a secret, so get in there and try each one the week Venture Into the Wild goes live. Venture Into the Wild is a great way to experience the fun of Wild, even if you don’t own a full Wild collection. The Wild Brawliseum is a Wild Tavern Brawl aimed at the competitive Hearthstone player that wants to put their skills and collection to the test. The Wild Brawliseum uses player-built decks that are locked in for the duration of the run, and has an entry fee that uses Gold or real money. Players battle each other until they hit 12 wins or 3 losses, just like Arena. The rewards offered are also the same as what is offered in the Arena, so get in there and give The Wild Brawliseum a try – the first run is free! We hope you enjoy the excitement of Wildfest! What kind of decks are you planning on building for the Brawliseum? Let us know in the comments below!

Resolved an issue that would allow the Friends menu to remain active while a Friendly Challenge is active. Fixed various minor visual and text issues. Resolved a visual issue with Candlebeard’s charge enchantment banner. [Adventures] Atramedes now correctly uses his Hero Power whenever he should. Mobile Resolved an issue with the Collection Manager that could allow the set filter to be interacted with behind the “Done” button. Scrolling through an Arena deck on a mobile device will no longer generate unnecessary prompts. The “Back” button will now function correctly after an Arena run is complete. History tiles that were queueing up while viewing a history event now populate correctly. Resolved an issue that could cause crafted cards to remain visible over the Collection Manager. Corrected a visual issue with the search bar in the Collection Manager. [Android] Resolved an issue with the download progress indicator. [iOS] Compatibility now requires iOS 8.0 or later. [iOS] The client will no longer sometimes freeze when a spectated player wins a match.

Malto's Guided Tours: Blackrock Mountian

Welcome back, hero! I’m excited to have you along on our latest adventure! I am Malto, and it is my utmost joy to help heroes like you defeat some of the most powerful encounters in Hearthstone. Say, did you happen to join us last week when we toured Naxxramas? The plague-ridden air of the Necropolis has left my memory a bit hazy. Today, we’ll take an exciting excursion through the hotly-contested fires of Blackrock Mountain. Adventurers far and wide have heard tell of the raging war between the firelord Ragnaros and Lord Victor Nefarius—a war that shakes the mountain to its very core! Few have journeyed inside and lived to tell the tale . . . but don’t worry, you’ll be safe with me. Within the scorched walls of Blackrock Mountain, you’ll encounter five wings full of sinister Dark Iron Dwarves, ruthless elementals, and members of the infamous Black Dragonflight. While you may break a sweat besting these foes, you’ll really feel the heat when you enter the flame-ridden lair of Nefarian, son of Deathwing! It’s best if I don’t frighten you too much—we must keep our cool and focus on the task at hand! Blackrock Depths Grimm Guzzler Dark Iron Arena Emperor Thaurissan Molten Core Garr Baron Geddon Ragnaros Blackrock Spire Highlord Omokk General Drakkisath Rend Blackhand Blackwing Lair Razorgore the Untamed Vaelastrasz the Corrupt Chromaggus Lord Victor Nefarius Hidden Laboratory Omnotron Defense System Maloriak Atramedes Nefarian I hope you find my assistance useful in overcoming the treacherous beasts, crags, and cliffs of Blackrock Mountain. Remember, you can find Hearthstone Adventures of old on the Blizzard Shop! One last thing, brave champion; have you, by chance, heard of a mysterious treasure called the Staff of Origination? This powerful Titan artifact was highly sought-after by some of the greatest adventures Hearthstone has ever seen. Join me next week as we relive the exciting tale of The League of Explorers! February 2018 Ranked Play Season – Savage Sparkles

0 komentar

The February 2018 Ranked Play Season is now live—and we’re unveiling a new card back you can add to your collection! Black iron? Spikes? SKULLS? Bah! These are the accoutrements of the uncertain. The greatest warriors know that nothing exemplifies absolute fearlessness on the battlefield like a generous coat of glitter! Let your foes see you coming from miles away—dazzle them with an array of glimmering SPARKLES*—and they will know that a truly savage foe is upon them! Add the Sparkles card back to your collection by playing Hearthstone during the month of February—and get savage! These card backs replace the art decorating the reverse side of your cards and are a great way to show off your Hearthstone accomplishments. Add the Sparkles card back to your collection by hitting Rank 20 in either Standard or Wild Ranked Play modes. You’ll receive the Sparkle card back at the end of February’s Ranked Play Season in your Ranked Play reward chest. You earn Ranked Play reward chests based on your highest earned rank over the course of a Ranked Play season. Reward chests may contain seasonal card backs, Arcane Dust, and golden cards, and can be obtained by playing in either Standard or Wild Ranked Play modes. You’ll be awarded one chest per Ranked Play season based on your highest rank between the two modes. Don’t forget—the further you move up the Ranked Play ladder, the more bonus stars you’ll receive next season. In Ranked Play, you’ll receive bonus stars based on your performance from the previous season—one bonus star per rank you attained. Please note that even if bonus stars from the previous season get you directly to Rank 20 or above, you still have to log in at least once each Ranked Season to qualify for the card back reward. Show your opponents how spectacularly sparkly you can be in February’s Ranked Play Season, Savage Sparkles. *Cute little stars are a particularly terrifying touch!
