Malto's Guided Tours: The Upper Reaches

0 komentar

Welcome back, brave adventurer! I was worried you wouldn’t return after locking horns with that terrible trio from the Lower Citadel. It warms my heart to have you back in my party, and where we’re going, we’re gonna need all the warmth we can get. Let us now journey into the Upper Reaches to face the final three bosses we’ll need to defeat before challenging the Lich King himself. Keep your wits about you—they won’t be showing us any mercy! The Upper Reaches The Upper Reaches host Blood-Queen Lana’thel, Professor Putricide, and Sindragosa. Blood-Queen Lana-thel This neck-biting Blood Elf has a relatively straightforward hero power, Vampiric Leech. This allows her to deal three damage to any target she chooses, and heal herself for the damage dealt. However, it is her secondary ability that poses a more significant threat: once her turn begins, she turns you into a vampire! Once you become a vampire, your hero power changes to “Vampiric Bite”. This zero-cost hero power gives a minion +2 health and attack, and must be used every turn on a minion who has not yet been “bitten”! That means if you don’t have a friendly target, you’ll have to buff one of her minions. For this battle, we will call on the light of Uther. During this encounter, we want to always have minions available to target with Vampiric Bite. Face is the place!!! Since we will always be looking to make our minions bigger, we can keep up constant pressure. Always have a back-up Try to keep at least one minion in your hand that you can play to guarantee you’ll have a friendly target for your hero power. Professor Putricide Professor Putricide changes several times throughout this encounter. He begins the battle with 15 armor and a hero power that makes all Secrets cost zero. Once his armor is gone, phase two begins. Putricide will summon Festergut: a 3/5 minion that deals three damage to all enemy minions at the end of the Professor’s turn. He also gains 15 more armor that you will need to remove to initiate the third and final phase. Once entering his final form, Putricide summons Rotface. Rotface is a 4/6 minion that summons a random Legendary each time he survives damage. Ouch! Choose the Ooze Don’t let Growing Ooze get out of control. Trade early with these minions to keep their impact as low as possible. It’s a Secret to . . . you! Remember: the colors of the Secrets Putricide plays reflect what class they are from. Use this info to better guess what he could possibly have in store. Pace yourself Each phase brings a new challenge. Make sure not to push Putricide into his next phase until you’re ready. Well done! All those potions and he couldn’t come up with one recipe for success. Well, now that Professor Putricide is out of the way, let’s head to the last boss before we ascend to the Frozen Throne. Sindragosa Sindragosa lives up to her reputation as a cold-hearted dragon by turning your minions into blocks of ice! When her health drops to 20 and 10, she’ll change your minions on the board to ice cubes. Worst thing is, once they are frozen, there is no way to thaw them out! If your board is full when she hits 20 or 10 health, you won’t be able to play any more minions. For assistance with this fight, we’ll be turning to Garrosh Hellscream. Garrosh gives us options to attack without having any minions on the board when Sindragosa unleashes her storm. Pow! Right in the kisser! As Sindragosa has no real defensive tactics outside of turning your minions into blocks of ice, we can focus on bringing down her health. Just be careful as she nears 20 and 10 health. Trades for days Sindragosa will use her minions to attack yours. This allows you to keep your board low until you can reduce her health. Use your weapons to push her over the edge. He nears! Now with Sindragosa out of the way, we can approach the Frozen Throne. Join me next time as we face off against the Lord of the Scourge himself. See you soon! ul li { list-style-type: disc !important; }

The Summer of Surrender

0 komentar

The Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) crowned the third seasonal champion of 2017 at the Blizzard Arena Los Angeles during the HCT Summer Championship. Joining HCT Winter’s Aleksey ‘ShtanUdachi’ Barsukov and Spring’s Frederik ‘Hoej’ Nielsen, Kim ‘Surrender’ Jung-soo claimed the Summer throne. After his auspicious victory, Surrender took time to talk to us about his career, his Summer strategy, being part of an amazing Hearthstone team, and more… What got you into playing Hearthstone competitively, rather than just for fun? I didn’t decide to play Hearthstone at a pro level from the beginning. However, as I played more and more, I realized that I had a knack for the game and was good at it. From then on, I wanted to play Hearthstone competitively, and was looking for tournaments that I could participate in. What have been the high and low points of your pro gaming career? The high point of my career was in 2015, when I was 18 years old and didn’t have much. I only had confidence in my ability to play Hearthstone. I did well on ladder, and in the tournaments I participated in. The lowest point was in 2016, where I was conflicted on deciding to be a streamer or sticking with being a pro player. I was so preoccupied with this, it ended up affecting my ability to perform well in tournaments. How did you get involved with your team, Planet Odd? What do you hope to achieve with them? I have been with my teammates for some time now. Initially we started with four members on team Natus Vincere. When the team was formed, none of us had many achievements. Ostkaka was the first to get a major achievement, followed by Xixo and Hoej. Now, I have an achievement as well. My hope is that one of our team members will be the World Champion, so that our team receives the well-deserved recognition of our teamwork. How do you prepare for a tournament like the HCT Summer Championship? This tournament was the biggest tournament that I have ever participated in. In previous years I participated in well-known tournaments where I would try to prepare, but nothing could be compared to the amount of preparation I put in for this tournament. My teammates and I would set up daily times where we would get together to discuss and share ideas, and to test our theories with each other—which gave me a lot of practice. You brought Murloc Paladin and banned Rogue; why? During my preparations, deciding on the class to ban was one of the most analyzed points. I started off planning to ban either Druid or Priest, but during my practice, I shifted to banning Rogue. I was faced with trying to decide on a deck that was weak against Rogue, but favorable against other classes. I ended up deciding between Tempo Mage, Zoo Warlock, and Murloc Paladin. I decided to go with Murloc Paladin, since it showed the most success during my preparation and practice. Were there any decisions in your deck lineup or practice that you feel didn’t pay off? When I was preparing the Murloc Paladin, I expected that players would not bring Shaman, due to worrying about the Control Warlock or Priest matchups. When the deck lists came out and I saw that two of the players in my group had Shaman in their lineup, I was a bit shocked. Did you make any mistakes during the Summer Championship? In the finals, I made the mistake of keeping the Northshire Cleric alive, which allowed my opponent to utilize the card against me. Besides that, there were other mistakes too. Even if you are a good player, there are always times when mistakes are made, and I believe that making less mistakes is one of the skills required to be a great player. What deck(s) do you have the most fun playing? I’ve always been in love with combo decks from the beginning. I am really enjoying Highlander Priest, and hope that Blizzard will introduce more combo decks in the future. You bought your mother a car with prize money previously. What would you buy for her if you win the World Championship? That was about three years ago, when I was young and didn't know how to manage finances. As an adult, I am capable of managing my own finances, and will probably put most of it in savings for my future. However, whenever I go abroad to participate in a Hearthstone tournament, I remember my mother always saying that she has never been abroad—and even though I may not become the World Champion, I want to take my mother abroad to see the world. Congratulations to Surrender on his incredible victory! Targeting Rogue clearly paid off, and we’re excited to see what he has in store for us at the HCT World Championship in Amsterdam in January. Are you surprised to hear Surrender say that he didn’t feel Shaman would make an appearance at the Summer Championship? Will one of Planet Odd’s members win the 2017 World Championship? Let us know in the comments!

You're Invited to the Hearthstone Inn-vitational

0 komentar

Pull up a chair by the hearth, because you’re about to witness quite the event: Welcome to the Hearthstone Inn-vitational! The Hearthstone Inn-vitational at BlizzCon 2017 will see 12 of the most intrepid adventurers set forth in search of treasures untold. The journey will be arduous, and they’ll need your fullest (moral) support. Party Up! Here are the brave souls who will compete in the Inn-vitational! Jungle Giants Big-Time Buccaneers Grimestreet Grifters Chillblade Crusaders Kripparian Disguised Toast Reynad Dog Firebat Ant Thijs RDU J4CKIECHAN Alliestrasza Pathra NaviOOT The Inn-vitational Adventure You don’t go to the tavern to sit by yourself, do you? In true Hearthstone spirit, each team’s players will gather around the hearth (or the desk, in this case!) and make decisions together while they play. The Inn-vitational’s matches will be played in round robin format, with three games per match. Each player on a team will play one game per match. Challenge #1 - Wild Our adventurers take on the challenge of the Wild! Teams will square off with preconstructed decks built exclusively for the Wild format. Will they fall prey to the likes of Reno Jackson and Azure Drake? Jungle Giants vs. Big-Time Buccaneers Grimestreet Grifters vs. Chillblade Crusaders Challenge #2 - Standard Ah, the tried-and-tested Standard competition. Don’t let this quintessential challenge catch you off-guard, though. There’s a lot to be feared out there in those dark dungeons. Jungle Giants vs. Grimestreet Grifters Big-Time Buccaneers vs. Chillblade Crusaders Challenge #3 - Excavated Treasures Our adventurers have stumbled across something shiny in the darkness—a stash of valuable cards! A tinny, hissing voice in the darkness warns that they shouldn’t take the precious cards, but what good adventurer leaves treasure behind? For this challenge, the intrepid explorers will be doing battle with the cards they’ve just found. Watch some of the best deck-builders in Hearthstone try to outwit each other! Jungle Giants vs. Chillblade Crusaders Big-Time Buccaneers vs. Grimestreet Grifters Whenever a team wins one of these challenges, they’ll be awarded a mysterious treasure. What type of treasure, you ask? We won’t spoil the surprise, but rest assured they’ll need them for the hazards lurking in the dark. The most valiant party of the Inn-vitational will also earn an extra treasure. No one ever finishes a daring adventure in just a day, so if you want to find out what happens to our intrepid heroes, remember to catch their exploits at BlizzCon 2017 at the Hearthstone Inn-vitational! The Inn-vitational starts at 1pm PDT on Friday, Nov. 3, and 9.30am PDT on Saturday, Nov. 4. P.S. If the adventuring life is not one you can stomach, you might be more interested in a Tavern vs. Tavern showdown.

We’re excited to introduce an array of new social features designed to give Blizzard players even more ways to stay connected inside our games and out—all available starting today in the Blizzard Battle.net® desktop app. The new Social tab includes the brand-new Blizzard Groups feature and hosts all of your chats, and player-to-player gifting gives you new ways to show your appreciation to your friends. We’ve also launched some new features that let you control how you appear to the Blizzard community, including profiles and avatars that let you customize your online persona, along with the ability to appear offline—read more about all these features below. Social Tab Our new Social tab is your one-stop-shop for managing all your various social interactions, including chatting one-on-one with a friend and engaging in our new Blizzard Groups feature. Chat now works even when you’re offline, so you can send a message to an offline friend and they’ll receive it when they come back online. You’ll also see a history of your chat, so you’ll easily be able to pick up where you left off in all of your conversations. These chat features are designed to work seamlessly with the recently launched Blizzard Battle.net mobile app, which lets you chat on the go—download it free now for iOS and Android to help stay connected to your friends anywhere. Blizzard Groups Blizzard Groups are a new way for you to connect with your friends and other groups of players who share common interests, whether it’s prepping for a raid, hanging out to cheer on your favorite esports team, or geeking out over a new comic or animated short. Each Group can have multiple text and voice chat channels, and Group administrators have a variety of tools to help manage membership, send out invitation links, and more. When it’s time to go offline, you can easily catch up on conversations you might have missed once you return. Head to the new Social tab to get the party started! Player Gifting One of your Blizzard friends have a birthday coming up? Or just want to say “thanks” for some awesome support in a recent game? With player-to-player gifting, you can purchase and send in-game gifts to your friends. To send a gift, head to the Shop tab and select a gifting-enabled item such as Hearthstone card packs or an Overwatch Loot Box. Select the Gift button, and then choose the desired recipient’s or BattleTag from a drop-down menu during the purchasing process. When someone sends you a gift, the upper right of the app will light up to show you that something’s waiting (you can also select View Gifts from the drop-down menu under your BattleTag). Click Claim or visit the Gifts web page on mobile to add the gift to your collection in the associated game. Profiles and Avatars Let the Blizzard world know a little bit more about you by customizing your profile and choosing an avatar. Your profile lets you share what’s on your mind with an About message, add links to where people can find you on social media, show people what games you’ve been playing recently, and more. You can also choose whether to make your profile public so that potential pals can learn more about you. Your avatar will represent you in chats, in Groups, and other places in the Blizzard community. You can choose from more than 100 different heroes, villains, and other iconic characters from across Blizzard’s game universes and beyond. Customize your profile and choose an avatar through the View Profile button in the app header and Friends list drop-downs. Appear Offline Appear offline allows you to set your status to show you as “offline” to your Blizzard friends while remaining connected to Battle.net. This means you can launch the app and game away without distraction. Appearing offline will show you as offline to everyone in your Blizzard friends list both in the Battle.net app and in-game. Gameplay and game-specific features such as matchmaking are unaffected while you are appearing offline. Note that in the case of World of Warcraft, you will still appear online as your character in-game. While appearing offline you can still send and receive messages in the app, but it is up to you when you want to respond. Thanks to everyone who’s provided feedback on these new features during the recent beta test, and to all those who’ve given us suggestions for improving the Blizzard Battle.net desktop app. These features are here because you asked for them, and we’re looking forward to continuing to evolve the app experience and help the Blizzard community stay connected. Once you’ve had a chance to try these new features out, head to the forums and let us know what you think!

Our Summer Championship Scorecard

0 komentar

Following the thrilling conclusion of the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) Summer Championship, we wanted to revisit our event preview and see how the tournament shook out compared to our early expectations. Here’s a quick look at the hits, misses, and surprises from our three days in Los Angeles… One Ban to Rule Them All Jade Druid drew the majority (63%) of the bans in the tournament, which is unsurprising given the Conquest format—most players weren’t running a lineup of decks that could target Jade efficiently, and it’s a strong counter to the omnipresent Highlander Priest. Simply removing it from the equation freed up the pros to focus on maximizing their odds with Priest (which also had few organic counters in play), the enormous potential of Tempo Rogue, and whatever their edge-case matchups looked like. The remainder of the bans generally hit specific weaknesses of individual player’s lineups. Highlander Priest was the next-most banned, at 17% of the time. Kim ‘Surrender’ Jung-soo, our eventual champion, brought a lineup that was designed to beat most of the field apart from Tempo Rogue, so he was responsible for most of the limited Rogue bans (11%). The last few bans hit a couple of Token Shaman lists, Wang 'BaiZe' XinYu’s Zoo Warlock (twice), and a lone ban of Zheng 'OmegaZero' Lin’s Hunter. Classy Performances Which classes succeeded and which did not, outside of mirror matches, frequently came down to their pilots and matchups. Based on pure numbers, though, Paladin was the surprise breakthrough weapon of choice, posting an overall 69% win rate across the entire tournament (albeit only over 16 games). Our four semifinalists qualified for the upcoming HCT World Championship in Amsterdam this January, and they did so primarily on the back of the most popular competitive decks. Each brought Highlander Priest and Jade Druid, and three of the four had Tempo Rogue and/or Token Shaman. Only two outside edge-case decks made appearances: Jason ‘JasonZhou’ Zhou’s Handlock, and Surrender’s Murloc Paladin. Most of the players who brought non-standard lineups were punished for it. Neither player who forwent Jade Druid made it to the quarterfinals; two of the three players fielding Warrior decks also failed to advance. Having said that, players with the same meta lineup that took Orange and Purple to the World Championship, like Pavel 'Pavel' Beltukov and Riku 'YAYTears' Miyao, fell short. Each of our highlighted Unique Decks was brought by a player who didn’t make the semifinals. Tech Support Survey It looks as though Jon 'Orange' Westberg and Ryan 'Purple' Murphy-Root’s decision to play Gadgetzan Auctioneer in their Highlander Priest decks and Sea Giants in their Token Shamans paid off—the former for its strength in the mirror and flexibility elsewhere, the latter for its value alongside or against board flooding—as both of our color competitors made it to the World Championship. Most of the other tech choices appear to have fizzled, as tournament-prepared players easily played around Mind Control Tech. A special shout-out has to go to Dirty Rat, which ended up being a fairly standard inclusion in multiple decks, but also became a staple of the miracle moments of the Summer Championship. Other minor tech decisions, like Guillermo 'Empanizado' Tolosa Góngora’s Tempo Rogue focusing heavily on winning the mirror match, played out very well, too (despite being fairly simple changes, such as playing Golakka Crawlers). Congratulations once again to Surrender, Orange, JasonZhou, and Purple on successfully navigating HCT Summer and advancing to the World Championship! What decisions—lineups, bans, tech, or otherwise—do you think helped them go the distance? Let us know in the comments.

In this Hearthstone update we’re preparing the tavern for the Headless Horseman’s Hallow’s End party! We’ve also made some small but important changes to Hearthstone’s mechanics, added a new Hearthstone hero you can acquire via Fireside Gatherings, and fixed some bugs. Read on for more information! General HA! HA! HAPPY HALLOW’S END! It’s the Headless Horseman’s favorite time of year, and he’s brought lots of tricks and treats to the tavern! From October 24 through November 6 enjoy a treat for logging in each week, a tricky new Tavern Brawl, and dual class Arenas*! Visit playhearthstone.com for details. Added the following card backs: Unholy – Acquired from achieving Rank 20 in Ranked Play, October 2017 Gone Fishing – Acquired from achieving Rank 20 in Ranked Play, November 2017 Fireside Gatherings New Warlock Hero: Nemsy Necrofizzle – Acquired from attending a Fireside Gathering Tavern and playing a Fireside Brawl. Find a Fireside Gathering Tavern near you at firesidegatherings.com. Fireside Gatherings now have their own game menu! Gameplay & Updates Hearthstone Mechanics Update – We've changed some underlying rules to prevent Wild Pyromancer from triggering off of Mindgames, and Djinni of Zephyrs from triggering off Entomb. Please check out the Upcoming Mechanics Update blog for details! Several Friends List options have been bundled into a sub-menu. Spells that are canceled by Counterspell will now trigger any “Whenever you cast a spell” and “After you cast a spell” effects. Lord Jaraxxus no longer triggers Repentance, Sacred Trial, and Snipe. Unlicensed Apothecary now reads: “After you summon a minion, deal 5 damage to your hero.” It will no longer activate from any Evolve effects. It is no longer possible to cancel Choose One cards before the choices appear, this should resolve issues where the Choose One effect could be canceled too easily. Hearthstone’s engine has been updated to Unity version 5.6. Animations for Mimic Pod, Chromaggus, Shifting Shade, Ghastly Conjurer, and Cutpurse should no longer have a long pause. Mana-cost reductions on cards such as Dragon’s Breath, Solemn Vigil, Everyfin is Awesome, and Obsidian Shard will now apply after all other mana cost changes, such as the effects from cards like Naga Sea Witch. Arena Vicious Fledgling can no longer be drafted in the Arena. The first two picks in an Arena draft are no longer more likely to include synergy-based cards. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve Class balance in the Arena, small appearance rate adjustments have been made to a number of Arena cards. Stay up to date on Arena rules on the official forums. Additional Bug Fixes [PC] Resolved an issue that could cause Hearthstone to display an unresponsive white screen upon login. Prince Taldaram’s ability now correctly copies Enrage effects. Taldaram should now correctly be a 5/5 after Crystal Core has been played. The Cursed Blade effect will no longer incorrectly be re-applied and become permanent when changing Heroes. Kel’Thuzad will no longer trigger a second time if his first activation revives Drakkari Enchanter. Changed Thrall, Deathseer’s history tile to be clearer. Evolve and Devolve have been updated to match. Dirty Rat’s history tile now shows which minion was pulled, if any. Ice Breaker now shows a history tile when it destroys a frozen minion. Minions that transform as they enter play, such as Druid of the Claw, will now correctly trigger secrets such as Hidden Cache. Cards created by Shifter Zerus and Molten Blade now have better indicators. Shadowform will no longer incorrectly grant an upgraded Hero Power if played while Voidform is active. Cards created by Valeera the Hollow’s Hero Power are now marked as such. Using certain Hero Powers, such as Totemic Slam and Plague Lord, will no longer activate Combo cards. Fixed a bug where clicking the lower portion of your weapon or Hero Power would result in your action being immediately canceled. Corrected an issue when playing a golden Sir Finley Mrrgglton that could make Hero Powers difficult to interact with. Adjusted the timing on Death Grip’s animation and reveal; the card is now revealed to the opponent for two seconds. Effects that can cause a minion or Hero to attack the wrong target, such as those found on Ogres and Mayor Noggenfogger, will not trigger multiple times per attack when interrupted by Secrets. These effects should now only trigger once per attack. Added a new error message when trying to attack while there are no valid targets available. Fixed an issue where Build-a-Beast could become unresponsive when activated multiple times in a single turn. Anomalus’ Deathrattle now correctly gains Lifesteal after Frost Lich Jaina has been played. Bolvar, Fireblood now correctly gains attack when minions with Divine Shield die to Despicable Dreadlord’s end of turn effect. Expending Sword of Justice’s durability as it is played will no longer grant +1 attack for the rest of the game. Open the Waygate will now correctly progress with spells that have been replaced by Lilian Voss. Druid of the Swarm now correctly receives buffs from Hobgoblin. Resolved a visual issue that could occur upon earning 500 Ranked Play wins while using a Death Knight Hero. We’ve improved card back search functionality, especially with regard to favorite card backs. Resolved an issue that could cause Hearthstone to start with a very small window size. The Battlecry from Furnacefire Colossus will no longer cause weapons to be discarded if the Colossus is destroyed before the Battlecry occurs. Resolved an issue that could occur when targeting minions with spells as they are being polymorphed. Fixed a bug where Heroic Lady Naz’jar would increase the cost of your minions instead of just her own. Fixed a visual issue with Heigan’s Hero Power when interacting with dormant minions, like Sherazin, Seed. Improved text formatting on some cards. Defile will no longer sometimes stop animating when triggering multiple times. Fixed a bug where incorrect information could temporarily display on your Hero when a Death Knight Hero card is played. Fixed a visual issue that could occur during certain animations, causing them to flicker or scatter. Fixed some visual bugs that could occur when discarding a card that is currently being moused over. Fixed a visual issue with Galvadon’s Liquid Membrane adaptation Fixed a visual issue with Durability that could occur when drafting weapons in the Arena. Fixed a visual issue where keyword tooltips for boss Hero Powers were not aligned with the Hero Power banner. Fixed a visual issue that could occur when using Mass Disenchant with the filter set to Knights of the Frozen Throne. Fixed a visual error that could appear when scrolling down and up on a populated friends list. Mac and Mobile [Mobile] Resolved an issue with displaying destroyed or countered secrets on phones. [Mac] Fresh installations of Hearthstone on Macs no longer suffer initial performance degradation. [iOS] Corrected the aspect ratio on iPod Touch devices. [Android] Personal Music can now be played in the Hearthstone client on Android devices! * NOTE: If you have an Arena run in progress when Hallow’s End begins on October 24, then it will be retired and you’ll receive the normal rewards for the number of wins you achieved and a free Arena ticket. In the hours just before the beginning and conclusion of Hallow’s End on October 24 and November 6, it will temporarily be impossible to purchase a new Arena ticket.

If you dare to brave a tavern decked in delightfully dreary Hallow’s End decorations, then you’ll find that your horrific host has also planned some spine-tingling treats and chilling challenges! Tempting Treats Once each week during the celebration, the Headless Horseman is handing out a creepy card pack and an Arena ticket just for logging in! When you start an Arena run during Hallow’s End, you’ll choose a Hero, then a Hero Power, and the cards offered in your picks will feature cards from BOTH of those classes, in addition to neutral cards. And don’t forget, you’ll get a free Arena ticket just for logging in each week, so there’s no excuse not to attend the party! A Tricky Tavern Brawl The Headless Horseman Rides is a special Hallow’s End Tavern Brawl that will run from Oct. 25 to 28. Each costume has its own deck featuring cards from several classes and, for the first time, a passive Hero Power that you’ll need to make the most of if you want to succeed at sinking the sinister specter! There’s a feast of fearsome fun to be had at the Headless Horseman’s Hallow’s End hootenanny. 5 Miracle Moments from the HCT Summer Championship

0 komentar

The Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) Summer Championship played out this past weekend at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles, and fans in-studio and at home were treated to an incredible experience thanks to the talent and tenacity of some of the world’s best players. In case you missed it—or want to relive a few of the highlight-reel moments—here are five of the plays that caught our eyes and dropped our jaws: #5 – All Must Serve the One... True... King Seven turns out from fatigue, and unable to establish a board presence, things were looking grim for Purple in game four of his match against tom60229. He needed a miracle—and he got it, rolling The Lich King off of a 6-cost Jade Golem with Thrall, Deathseer's Battlecry effect. On Purple's next turn, The Lich King generated an Anti-Magic Shell, which gave Purple an opening to play around tom60229's only remaining outs, and go on from there to win what had looked to be an unwinnable game. #4 – P-P-P-Poker Face Game three between Purple and tom60229 also had a memorable (and only-in-real-life) moment, as Purple went for an over-the-monitor read on tom60229’s poker face to try and surmise which Mage secret he had in play. Whether Purple saw it on tom's face or not, he correctly tested for the in-play Counterspell with his Swipe, protecting his Ultimate Infestation for later use. #3 – Youuuu Dirty Rat OldBoy snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in game five against Nalguidan. The two were locked in a tense Handlock mirror, with Nalguidan poised to finish off OldBoy and advance to playoff Sunday. Nalguidan had twice previously been punished—once in an earlier match, and once already against OldBoy—by Dirty Rat pulling out his Doomsayer. And here it happened again, as OldBoy played to his only out, successfully sniping Doomsayer, taking back the board, and eventually winning the match. #2 – You Must Read the Name of This Card Out Loud Each Time You Play It Surrender won all three of his games in the Group C winner’s match against OmegaZero’s Hunter deck, but it wasn’t easy. With deck lists being public knowledge, Surrender knew OmegaZero’s list by heart—and that plus the game state let him make a next-level read. One card had sat unplayed all game in OmegaZero’s hand: If it was a relevant minion or a direct-damage card, he’d had opportunities to play it already. The card had to be Unleash the Hounds. Surrender played around it by trading two minions into one of OmegaZero’s, which removed the possibility of lethal damage from Unleash the Hounds. #1 – It's the Circle of Healing Who would win the HCT Summer Championship trophy came down to an intense game-five mirror match between Surrender and Orange’s Highlander Priest decks. At one point, Orange spotted an opportunity to force Surrender to overdraw his hand by six cards, trading an otherwise weak combo card in Circle of Healing for a chance he could burn one of Surrender’s mandatory combo cards (ideally Raza). It was a real nail-biter for both players, and the casting desk, as each card was drawn, and lost: Unfortunately for Orange, the six burned cards did not affect Surrender’s win condition. When it was all over, despite hitting fatigue, Surrender had become our HCT Summer champion! Were there any other amazing plays or amusing interactions that you loved during the HCT Summer Championship? Which players were your favorites to watch? Let us know in the comments!

Local Currency Update Coming to Blizzard Battle.net® in Canada, Japan, and New Zealand

0 komentar

Later this year, we’ll be changing pricing on Blizzard Battle.net® from USD to local currency in Canada, Japan, and New Zealand. We’re excited to introduce the change. It’s a key step toward growing our service globally and making it easier for players in these regions to shop and manage their accounts with us. Once this change takes effect, local currency will be used for pricing across Battle.net and within all of Blizzard’s game shops. The same goes for any Blizzard Balance that players in these regions have stored with us, which will convert over to their local currency. Existing recurring World of Warcraft® subscriptions will not be affected and will continue using USD. However, any new or renewed subscriptions and pre-paid Game Time cards will be offered in their local currency. While we haven’t finalized the exact date, the switch in these regions is currently slated to take effect before the end of this year. At that time, all product pricing and any stored Blizzard Balance will be converted from USD to the local currency based on the rate provided by one of the major exchanges. For players in New Zealand, pricing will be inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). We want to make as many of our players as possible feel at home in the Blizzard ecosystem, regardless of where they’re logging in from. We also want to make shopping with us seamless and easy. Switching to local currencies is a key step toward achieving this. Some of our customers will be able to avoid paying unnecessary transaction fees charged by banks and financial institutions. Furthermore, this change will also help us expand the types of payment we can accept, allowing us to add payment methods that we previously couldn’t offer because of their restrictions on transacting in USD. We’ll provide an update for our players in Canada, Japan, and New Zealand once we formally make the switch to their local currencies. In the meantime, we’ve put together a brief FAQ to provide you with more information on the coming changes. FAQ When are you switching to local currency in Canada, Japan, and New Zealand? Today, we announced that the change is coming and that it’s slated to take place before the end of the year. We will provide an update to players when the transition takes place. What products will be affected by these changes? The conversion to local currencies will affect all product pricing across Blizzard Battle.net® as well as all in-game shops and any stored Blizzard Balance. Any existing recurring World of Warcraft® subscriptions will continue to use USD. However, any new or renewed subscriptions and pre-paid Game Time cards will be offered in local currency. What happens to my stored Blizzard Balance? On the date that we make the switch in your regions, your stored Blizzard Balance will convert over to local currency. What rate Is Blizzard using to convert USD to my local currency? We will use the conversion rate provided by one of the major exchanges on the day we make the transition. Why did you decide to switch from USD to local currency in my region? This is an important step for growing our service globally, making it easier for our players around the world to shop and manage their accounts with us. Some of our customers will be able to avoid paying unnecessary transaction fees charged by banks and financial institutions We’re also able to accommodate more payment methods, adding ones we previously couldn’t offer because they have restrictions on transacting in USD. What currencies does Blizzard Battle.net support? Currently, Blizzard Battle.net supports the following currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, RUB, CNY, KRW, TWD, ARS, CLP, BRL, MXN, AUD. We will soon introduce support for JPY, CAD, and NZD. Blizzard Battle.net is still using USD in my region. When will you switch to my local currency? We’ll continually evaluate which new currencies to bring to Blizzard Battle.net, and we’ll update our players accordingly. What if my Blizzard Battle.net account is registered in the wrong country and I want to switch to my local region and currency? For help switching the region on your Blizzard Battle.net account, please go to: http://ift.tt/2iii37h. Four weeks of hard brawling has come down to this! Team Light and Team Void will settle their score once and for all in the Oktoberbrawl finals at TwitchCon this weekend. Scheduled for Oct. 20, the final showdown will kick off with a one game Wild match between Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime and Twitch CEO Emmett Shear. The two clashed last year in a bout that saw Emmett walk away the winner. Will Mike make an epic comeback this year? Taking the stage after that will be the teams Light and Void, consisting of personalities you know and have cheered on these past couple of months. TEAM VOID VS TEAM LIGHT Dog Kripparrian Thijs Reynad J4CKIECHAN Alliestrasza The teams will square off in a best-of-five match, with each player representing their team for at least one game. Both teams have earned sabotages over the last four weeks of Oktoberbrawl, and they will finally be able to use them against each other at the Oktoberbrawl Finals at TwitchCon! Sabotages Team Void holds three sabotages: opponent must wear gauntlets while playing their match; opponent is limited to 30 seconds per turn; opponent must voice one of their hero’s emotes before making their play. Team Light, on the other hand, holds just one sabotage: opponent must compete while in cosplay. A sabotage will only affect the player representing their team for that round, and can be awarded in any order. And the winner is... Team Light may have stumbled a little in their Oktoberbrawl rumbles, but they’ve also got vengeance burning beneath those card backs! Kripparian, Alliestrasza, and Reynad have major bones to pick with Team Void, who took the grudge matches 3-1 against them. It has been said that the comeback is real. Will we see Team Light end Oktoberbrawl with a flourish? Watch the showdown live on PlayHearthstone on Oct. 20, 2017. Broadcast will begin shortly after the TwitchCon opening address. Broadcast will begin shortly after the TwitchCon opening address. If you’re in the vicinity, you can also visit TwitchCon in person, and soak up the rowdy Oktoberbrawl atmosphere. HCT's First Championship Woman Impresses in LA

0 komentar

This weekend at the Blizzard Arena Los Angeles, the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) has its first-ever woman competing in a seasonal championship. Wang 'BaiZe' XinYu is a well-known Hearthstone competitor in China, and became more of a household name in the Western scene after advancing to the playoffs of the 2017 Hearthstone Wild Open. Her prior performances in NetEase's Gold Series are all notable, but she's making a big entrance on the world stage at the HCT Summer Championship. Heading into the tournament, BaiZe was already making waves with her uniquely teched deck lists. She's modified a popular Token Shaman with Masters of Evolution, Cult Masters, and the tournament's only copy of Prince Taldaram. While her Zoo, Priest, and Tempo Rogue lists are more in line with what other players settled on, no other player brought the same lineup she did—in part because she's also the only person not playing Druid. Did BaiZe read the field better than her opponents? Read on to find out... On Friday we spoke to BaiZe about her career leading up to this moment—and she's had some exciting moments thus far. "I started last March with the regional playoffs; we call it the Super Premier, which is the equivalent of the regional HCT playoffs," she said. "This year, in June, I traveled to the U.S. for the Hearthstone Wild Open. Finally, in July, I played in the Summer playoffs." A lifetime Blizzard fan, BaiZe enjoyed Warcraft III and World of Warcraft before coming to Hearthstone. Besides playing the game professionally, she spends most of her time casting the game in China. What does she get up to outside of Hearthstone? "I enjoy reading and watching movies, and I've also started learning how to play the piano," she said. Though BaiZe is having fun, that isn't to say that she isn't feeling the pressure, too. "As a professional Hearthstone player, you always want to tell people that you have what it takes to perform on big stages and be great," she said. "I don't want to go out there and have people say to me that I'm just the best woman they've seen play the game. I don't like that. I want to go out there and prove myself." BaiZe's first series against Pavel 'Pavel' Beltukov on Friday was extraordinarily tense. She took a strong lead in the Shaman mirror, but Pavel tied up the series with his Tempo Rogue over her Highlander Priest. Arguably the best game of day one followed, with BaiZe skillfully navigating the Highlander Priest mirror. At one point, she made an unexpected call with the 5-cost potion from Kazakus, holding it to confuse Pavel's read of her hand, and then executed a powerful swing turn using Lyra the Sunshard after baiting Pavel into a defensive Priest of the Feast. Sadly, in the fourth game, BaiZe's Rogue deck fell to Pavel's Shaman, and game five was decided by a series of underwhelming draws for BaiZe as both players exhausted their hands. Regardless of the outcome, it was a thrilling series, and case in point why BaiZe has to some extent been the talk of the tournament. She is thankful for all the new fans she's accrued this weekend, and wishes they'd follow her on Weibo—a Chinese microblogging service similar to Twitter—but admits, "It might be a little tough for my Western fans!" Her whole heart has been in Hearthstone for the last few years, and she says she had been feeling as though she had hit a bit of a glass ceiling. "If I get another opportunity to compete in HCT, I'll come back much stronger," she proclaims, adding that her fans will still see her on the caster desk regardless. She also shared some insight into her much-discussed Shaman deck. "There are two Shaman cards that I dislike that are prevalent in most people's decks—Mana Tide Totem and Thing from Below," BaiZe said. "I don't think they're effective against all the Druids and Rogues. I wanted to switch to something that was more aggressive, and thought Masters of Evolution and Cult Masters would work. All of those 4-cost minions left room for Prince Taldaram, which is a flexible and very interesting card to play around." Watching BaiZe take on defending world champion Pavel and compete in Los Angeles has been amazing, and we hope to see her again in future tournaments. What did you think of her matches? Let us know in the comments!

HCT Is Cooler at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles

0 komentar

As the second year of the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) enters the home stretch, its final seasonal championship, HCT Summer, is lighting up the stage this weekend at the all-new Blizzard Arena Los Angeles. It’s a large yet intimate venue—a high-tech, 450-seat studio with a tavern-esque makeover—and attendees today were excited to experience the first day of high-level Hearthstone competition. We’re all here because we love this game. It’s like nothing else to be in an arena full of people who know exactly what you mean when you say something like, “I can’t believe he played Coin to hit Evolve on two 3-drops instead of waiting to try and curve into Doppelgangster!” As everyone talks through the pros and cons of plays such as these, people start reaching for their smartphones and USB battery chargers—it’s going to be a full day of card dueling, both for the pros on stage and those in the stands. Matches start early for a long day of pro Hearthstone. Anyone planning on being here for the duration is in for 12 to 14 hours of broadcast, and it starts bright and early at 8:30 a.m.—so only a select handful of truly dedicated fans were here first thing Friday. (The extra free swag for the first folks through the door probably helped.) On the arena floor, a jam-packed Fireside Gathering is underway, with Sam Benson of KC Firesides at its helm. While the majority of the audience is zeroed in on the professional play on stage, two dozen or so fans have made their way down to occupy tables in front of the main event. They’re enjoying a social experience that includes not only watching pros play, but also playing games themselves, including the new Fireside Brawls feature, and meeting new friends through a shared appreciation of Hearthstone. “I want to give people the classic Fireside Gathering experience,” Benson says, placing a customized prize wheel in front of the players. With a spin, they discover what rule set their table will play some friendly matches under, and it lands on Beards—so every card in their decks has to have a beard in the card art. Meanwhile, on stage, big plays leading to Chen 'tom60229' Wei-Lin's reverse sweep of Facundo 'Nalguidan' Pruzzo draw a big reaction from the crowd, which has grown steadily since morning. Several of the fans in the stands debate what the pros should be doing on a turn-by-turn basis, and the detailed conversations are testament to how invested in the matches everyone is. Applause echoes throughout the hall as Yuya ‘uya’ Tanaka, a bit of an underdog in the competition, pulls off a series-tying reversal against Ryan ‘Purple’ Murphy-Root. There’s a clear sense of community in the room. Hearthstone developers shake hands with fans before engaging them in fun duels as Benson’s Fireside Gathering continues unabated. It feels like you can walk up to anyone, introduce yourself, and really “pull up a chair by the hearth” at this event. Nicholas and Joshua Botelho agree. They both traveled from Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada to be here, and they can't stop talking about what an epic experience it's been, meeting their favorite pro players, chatting with other attendees, and reveling in the championship-caliber play on stage. "The trip here has been priceless," Nicholas says. Joshua agrees, before breaking into a discussion of an earlier Highlander Priest mirror match. The debate that ensues at the table is a testament to the feeling they've described. "Hearthstone has one of the best communities," Joshua adds, as the Highlander Priest debate rages on. With that, attention shifts to one of HCT Summer's most anticipated matches, between defending world champion Pavel 'Pavel' Beltukov and Wang 'BaiZe' XinYu, the first woman to play on the championship stage at HCT. We'll have more on BaiZe tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. Were you with us in Los Angeles for the first Hearthstone event at the Blizzard Arena? Or did you take in the festivities from a Fireside Gathering of your own? Either way, let us know what your Hearthstone Summer Championship experience has been in the comments!

Hearthstone Game Mechanics Update

0 komentar

Hearthstone has a lot going on under the hood. In most cases, the cause-and-effect interactions when cards are played are relatively straightforward and easy to predict, but because of the way certain events are timed, some very surprising things can happen in rare circumstances. We want cards to work the way that you guess they might—in other words, we want the game to work intuitively. In the upcoming patch, we’re making some changes in pursuit of that goal. We want Hearthstone to continue to be strategically deep: a game of careful choices, calculated risks, and exciting events. So we want to be extra clear that this update isn’t a change in depth; instead, it’s one step in an ongoing effort improve Hearthstone’s mechanics. In this video, Hearthstone Gameplay Engineer Josh Durica gives you an overview of what to expect from the changes coming in the next patch. Thanks for Watching! Of course, our work to make Hearthstone better won’t stop here! Like the majority of odd interactions, each of these situations represents an edge case. While this update will address every situation we illustrated (among many others), there are still bound to be more. Keep in mind these are substantial changes to the core systems that underlie Hearthstone, so we need to make them incrementally, and with the utmost care. But you can rest assured that we’ll continue to make improvements over time. Learn More

Malto's Guided Tours: The Lower Citadel

0 komentar

Welcome, welcome! I’m so excited you’ve decided to join me! My name is Malto, and these tours are one of my favorite things about Hearthstone and they are always better with friends. Now, brace yourself. Though this adventure is one for heroes of all shapes and sizes, it is not for the faint of heart. Our journey shall take us to the fortress of the Lich King himself. Today, we enter the icy halls of . . . Icecrown Citadel! Lately, there have been a lot of heroes passing through Harth’s Tavern with stories of excitement and thrills. While some sing tales of conquest, others have yet to celebrate the Lich King’s defeat—including myself! That is why I have decided to lead my fellow adventurers on a tour where we will attempt to defeat the Lich King, together! Now, to remain safe, it is important that everyone know what dangers lurk ahead. Icecrown Citadel consists of four levels . The Prologue, the Lower Citadel, the Upper Reaches and finally, The Frozen Throne. Today we will be tackling The Prologue and The Lower Citadel. The Prologue The Prologue is our first contact with the Lich King, and a sneak peek into what we are up against. After surviving this encounter with the Lich King, we journey into The Lower Citadel, joined by a new Legendary hero: one of the Lich King’s very own Death Knights! The Lower Citadel The Lower Citadel is home to our first three encounters: Lord Marrowgar, Deathbringer Saurfang, and Lady Deathwhisper Lord Marrowgar Though his vocabulary may be limited, his ability to slice down intruders is not. Lord Marrowgar has a zero-cost hero power that allows him to fully restore his health every turn. Yes, you read that correctly. Full health! Every turn! FOR FREE! So how do we get through this “bone-head”? We call in some minions with real heavy hitting potential, that’s how! We will be utilizing the skills of Anduin for this fight. Here are some key points you will want to keep in mind when using this deck: Trade often! Your minions get bigger and you can heal. Don’t be afraid to keep the board clear. Bound by bone! Beware the Bone Spikes! These minions deal 15 damage directly to you at the start of Marrowgar’s turn, so they will need to be dealt with quickly. Saving an effect to remove this ability is always a solid plan. They also have an attack of 0. I’m sure we could think of some really “kooky” interactions with that It’s all in the name They call him a “berserker” for a reason. Help that troll realize his potential. Deck Code: AAEBAa0GAA/GBOUE8gWABskG9gaKB6UJ0QrXCvIMjw/hugK1uwLwuwIA Now with Marrowgar out of the way, let’s move on to: Deathbringer Saurfang Saurfang brings a very unique power to this encounter. His passive hero power makes him immune to all sources of damage—except weapons. So, to make sure we have the tools to bring down this orcish brute, we will be calling on an orcish brute ourselves: Garrosh Hellscream! While Garrosh has everything we need to silence Saurfang, here are some important points to keep in mind: Knight Time! Skeletal Knight works in your favor. Killing these minions could really boost your hand. Utilize your minions While your minions cannot deal damage to Saurfang, they can deal damage to his minions. This is especially crucial for those pesky Blood Beasts. Reap the rewards. Two Arcanite Reapers. Five damage per attack. Two durability on each. Opponent with 20 health. This math is as deadly as poison on an assassin’s blade. Deck Code: AAECAQcADxyhArACkQONBPsE/ATIBZEGigesB+8H/wf7DIKtAgA= Almost there! The defeat of Deathbringer Saurfang means there is only one boss left in the Lower Citadel. Now we face: Lady Deathwhisper Oh dear. If you are a little frightened by Lady Deathwhisper, you are not alone. With a hero power that reduces all our minions to one health each turn, it may be a bit troublesome to keep anything around long enough to get through all that armor. Luckily, we have some help! Valithria Dreamwalker will be joining our group to help take this boss down. With 30 attack and 5 health, Valithria packs all the power we will need. However, she cannot attack—or be attacked—when damaged, so we’ll be looking to Anduin again to help make this dragon feel better. Dreamwalker’s Revenge Valithria has a score to settle. Use your other minions to clear the way and allow her to unleash her full fury. Can’t hurt your minions if they are already at 1 This encounter lets us utilize minions we may find too weak for other situations. They say 5 attack is all the rage. Perfect Target I heard Deathlords don’t like pain. Deck Code: AAECAa0GAA8poQLlBOMFyQaaB54J0grTCtcK8gz1DJi7ArW7AtLBAgA= I hope all this excitement wasn’t too much for you, as we still have some ways to go. Join us next time as we journey into the Upper Reaches of the Frozen Throne to take on the next 3 bosses of the Lich King’s army. Rest up—you’re gonna need it!
