HCT Winter Championship — Recap

After four days of intense play on the sandy shores of Nassau, the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) has crowned its first international champion of 2017 at the Winter Championship. The first four players that will compete at this year’s Hearthstone World Championship in January were identified on Saturday, and we winnowed our way to an overall victor from the original pool of 16 competitors on Sunday. Here’s how it all went down… Bracket Highlights Early on, we saw a lot of tense group stage matches, with 9 of the 20 matches going to a full seven games. ShtanUdachi and LvGe established early dominance, advancing first in their groups with 8-3 scores. SamuelTsao had to fight the hardest for his spot in the playoffs, playing the maximum of 21 games in his three matches. The playoff bracket punished a previously successful LvGe, and SamuelTsao ended his run just shy of a spot at the World Championship. In the closest series of the tournament, Fr0zen narrowly defeat Neirea in game seven of their match. The notable newcomer DocPwn upset veteran HCT competitor Tarei, securing a berth in the World Championship that will take place in early 2018. SamuelTsao, Fr0zen, and DocPwn were joined by ShtanUdachi after his 4-0 trouncing of LovelyChook. While ShtanUdachi had to force game seven to advance over SamuelTsao in the semifinal, Fr0zen blazed past DocPwn without dropping a game on the other side of the bracket. In the grand final, however, ShtanUdachi got to play the exact plan his deck lineup was built for, and ended a back-and-forth final decisively in game seven. “I felt that out of all the lineups, his was the strongest — and you know when ShtanUdachi brings ‘normal’ decks, something’s going down,” said HCT caster TJ “Azumo” Sanders. “He’s got a pretty sick read on the meta.” Congratulations to ShtanUdachi! Deck Analysis As previously suggested in our Winter Championship Preview — which also includes all of the players’ decklists and tournament format information — Warrior was the most banned class for last weekend’s entire tournament. Out of a total of 54 bans, Warrior was banned 40 times, leading it to only see play 14 times (bear in mind, both players pick a class!). With Warrior largely off the table, the second-most popular class in the tournament, Rogue, led pick rates at 64 times played, followed closely by Priest, Mage, and Warlock. Shaman and Druid both saw slightly less play overall. “I’m not surprised [by the Warrior bans] at all. None of the Pirate Warriors had tech to beat Pirate Warriors in them.” – Alex “Raven” Baguley, HCT commentator Shaman led the tournament in overall performance with a 58% win rate, ahead of Rogue and Warlock at approximately 55%. Priest lagged behind with a 40% win rate, faring slightly worse than Druid and Mage, who had 50% and 45% win rates respectively. Class win rates can be deceptive, though — Fr0zen was one game away from winning the Winter Championship sporting a lineup featuring all three of the worst-performing classes. ShtanUdachi deserves credit for the impeccable deck choices he brought to the tournament. Never losing a series, he went 20-9 over five matches. Six of his game losses came in the semifinals and finals, where he put up his first losses with his Mage and Shaman decks; his Warrior was banned in all five series. Miss any of the action? Hearthside Chat: The Art of Journey to Un'Goro

During the early stages of development for Journey to Un’Goro, the Hearthstone art team spent some time creating an initial pass at what an expedition through the primal lands of Azeroth might look like. To learn more about the visual challenges that needed to be met as Journey to Un'goro took form, we sat down with Hearthstone Concept Artists Jerry Mascho, Jomaro Kindred, and Charlene Le Scanff. Elise the Trailblazer We had a great deal of fun exploring the Scout Leader outfit for Elise Starseeker! We wanted to make something that would identify her as Scout Leader but like it could/should exist in the Hearthstone Universe! We looked for unique ways to display merit badges on the Junior Explorers too, aside from the typical sash, and we ultimately decided to go with a leather shoulder pad that the scout could stich that badges to. Jomaro Kindred, Senior Concept Artist The Murloc Test With each new expansion, we do what we call a ‘Murloc Test’ and Un’Goro was no exception. Here are a few ideas for a primal Murloc that might roam the jungles. Jerry Mascho, Senior Concept Artist ...DINOSAURS! I can tell you that all the artists on the Hearthstone team were brimming with excitement when we found out about Journey to Un’Goro—‘YESSS! We get to paint BADASS DINOSAURS!' Since we were going to a more primordial area, I thought it would be fun to pay homage to the Time-Lost Proto-Drake. I haven’t been able to catch it in World of Warcraft, but at least I could possibly have a Hearthstone card featuring it! So how do you make something that feels more menacing than a Devilsaur? You make it larger, slap huge active volcanos on its back, and make it drool molten magma, of course! Jomaro Kindred, Senior Concept Artist Adaptation We spoke a lot about what the adaptation concept could be in Un’Goro. Basically, we wanted this capacity to be related to elementary evolution. What would these various and different transformations look like on the same dinosaur? Charlene Le Scanff, Concept Artist Adapt in Gameplay After exploring how different elements could affect our creatures, we wanted to see how to best illustrate the gameplay effects of Adapt from an anatomical point of view: carapace for increased health, wing for Windfury, and so on. Charlene Le Scanff, Concept Artist Brutal Bestiary Elementals are an important part of the Un’Goro lore: you must imagine a wild land where the elements meet each other to form a brutal, powerful bestiary. Among these various elements, steam and rock seemed to be an obvious combination to explore. Charlene Le Scanff, Concept Artist An Epic Scale When we first started working on Journey to Un’Goro, the environments were a big part of what we could use to pull everything together and sell an epic scale for the card art. These are a few sketches that showed some ancient plants and jungle fauna to find what we wanted to portray. Jerry Mascho, Senior Concept Artist Voracious Vegetation Charlene had some great ideas for the plants in Un’Goro—these really helped give the vegetation a lot of character and reinforce what this new jungle environment would look like in Hearthstone. The designers wanted us to explore the idea of a tribal group and we thought it would be fun to introduce a new race based on some ancient turtle creatures. So, the Tortollans were born. This sketch shows what a shaman and brute might look like in their culture. Fish as a weapon?! They . . . aren’t very clever. Hearthside Chat: Adapt in Un'Goro with Dean Ayala

Dinosaurs: Supercharged! We knew very early on that dinosaurs would be a huge part of Journey to Un’Goro, but the questions was: “How can we make them unique to this universe?” We started to reimagine our dinosaurs as primal powerhouses that had learned to harness the latent elemental energy of this primal world—dinosaurs that adapted to spew molten lava from their backs or protect themselves with shields of crackling energy. These aren’t your normal dinosaurs . . . they’re dinosaurs powered up! That leads us into today’s topic: Adapt. Adapt is a new Hearthstone keyword that can be found on many of the dinosaurs in Journey to Un’Goro. When a minion Adapts, the player will be presented with 3 of 10 possible options to buff that minion. Here are all 10 possible adaptations: Origins of Adapt The first version of Adapt came about during development of the previous expansion, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. A concept we had for one of the factions was all about building and upgrading mechanical creations. Whenever a Mech was played, you would get a Spare Part-style card that could give that Mech a new ability. Eventually we simplified the mechanic so that whenever you played a Mech, you could just pick a way to upgrade it. We loved how this played, but at the time we were happy with the Kabal, Jade, and Goon mechanics, and decided to push the idea to a future set. When it came time to brainstorm for Journey to Un’Goro, we came back to this idea of upgraded Mechs and thought it would be perfect for the story we wanted to tell about our dinosaurs. Near the beginning of Un’Goro, there were around 20 different options for Adapt. Originally we had adaptations that did things like deal damage to other creatures or let a player draw cards, but we felt the story of Adapt was clearer when the expectation was always that it would make the minion itself better. The adaptations that were the most engaging to us were the ones you chose based on the current game scenario rather than adaptations you might pick in any situation. Playing with Adapt Minions with abilities like Taunt, Divine Shield, or high attack and health values have a lot of interesting applications on their own. However, a lot of the cards with these attributes are only slotted into deck archetypes that fit with them. You might find cards with Taunt or high health mostly in control archetypes and cards with Divine Shield or high attack mostly in tempo or aggressive archetypes. One of the things we like about Adapt is that it affords you the versatility to make some unusual choices if the situation warrants it. Cards with keywords like Poisonous can create some very interesting board states, but the cards on their own might be too one-dimensional to warrant inclusion in your deck. One of our mechanical goals with Adapt was to take all of these interesting attributes and let players decide when and how to utilize them. Adapt also shares some similarities with another mechanic we created for League of Explorers: Discover. One of the greatest strengths of Discover is that it creates game scenarios that would never exist if players only had access to cards they put in their deck. Being presented with three random options went a long way in creating new and interesting situations that kept each game experience of Hearthstone fresh and exciting. Our goal with Adapt was to capture that same feeling, but with a set of possible outcomes small enough to allow for strategy and counterplay. The Cards We hope you enjoyed some insight into the development process of Journey to Un’Goro. Now that you know all about how and why Adapt was created, you probably want to see some examples! Here are some of our favorite Adapt cards in the set—we can’t wait for you to try them out soon™. One of the things we like to do with a new mechanic is to provide a card that showcases its simplest form. We felt Druid made the most sense in this circumstance because it provides a good option for Beast decks and at least one other Un’Goro strategy we think you’ll enjoy! Whenever we make a card that requires you to build a specific deck, it allows us to be a little more generous with its stats than we otherwise would be. This card is meant to be a powerful finishing option for any player willing to turn themselves over to the dark tide. Being able to Adapt twice offers some added consistency to the type of minion you need in any given scenario. Combining defensive adaptations like Taunt and +3 Health might bail you out of a tough spot whereas combining adaptations like Stealth and Windfury might help you create a minion that can finish the game. A reasonable minion on its own, Crackling Razormaw can combo with early minions to start snowballing board advantage or work in combination with adaptations like Poisonous for an interesting removal option. Adapt and Elementals . . . on the same card! We wanted a few good non-elemental cards with the ‘if you played an elemental last turn’ mechanic so it’s not as easy to trigger multiple elemental bonus cards on consecutive turns. While almost any adaptation on this card for turn three is a powerful option, you pay the price of breaking your ‘elemental played last turn’ chain. Never before have your Silver Hand Recruits posed such a threat! Most of the time we utilized this card for small advantages in the mid-game, but sometimes the stars align for a double Lightfused Stegodon play in the late game that can result in an enormous damage output from an unexpected source. Windows terbaru memiliki fitur untuk scan dokumen yang sudah terintegrasi. Namun fitur bawaan ini memaksa kamu untuk menyimpan dokumen yang kamu scan di tempat yang microsoft tetapkan dan melakukan beberapa langkah asing setiap kali kamu ingin scan halaman. Jika kamu merasa bahwa langkah yang dibutuhkan mengganggu, kamu harus mencoba aplikasi NAPS2, yang merupakan singkatan dari Not Another PDF Scanner 2.

Aplikasi gratis dan open-source ini tidak menyertakan banyak petunjuk pemakaian. Satu-satunya fitur yang saya benar-benar ingin ada pada NAPS2 adalah image straightening. Ketika scan halaman majalah, tidak peduli seberapa keras kamu mencoba untuk meluruskan posisi kertas, posisinya selalu miring. Banyak aplikasi scan lain yang memingkinkan kamu untuk memutar halaman untuk mengatasi hal ini, tapi NAPS2 tidak memiliki fitur tersebut. 10 Framework Unit Testing Otomatis PHP Terbaik

Pengujian otomatis dapat secara signifikan meningkatkan alur kerja pengembangan PHP dengan memungkinkan pre-written tes untuk mempercepat proses pengembangan.

Mengapa Pengujian itu Penting

Pengembang PHP pemula cenderung tidak menulis tes untuk kode mereka. Sebagian besar dari kita sebagai programmer memulai karir dengan menguji fitur dan fungsi baru dengan melakukanya hanya menggunakan browser satu per satu, dan ketika sesuatu yang tidak beres terjadi, kita cenderung tikdak punya ide tentang apa yang harus dilakukan.

Menulis tes untuk kode yang kita buat bisa mempersingkat waktu debugging. Ketika kode yang belum teruji masuk ke dalam produksi, biasanya kita akan mendapatkan hasil yang tidak begitu baik. Jadi apa yang bisa kita lakukan?

Mungkin ide terbaik adalah untuk membangun alur kerja pengujian di mana kita perlu menulis kode pengujian kita sendiri yang akan memeriksa apakah kode aplikasi kita bekerja dengan baik.

Kuncinya adalah bahwa kode pengujian perlu ditulis sebelum kode aplikasi itu sendiri. Dengan cara ini kita dapat memastikan dari awal bahwa kode yang kita tulis menghasilkan output yang benar. Apakah itu Automated Testing?

Tentu saja kita bisa menulis tes kami secara manual, tapi setelah beberapa saat melakukanya testing secara manual akan terasa membosankan dan memakan waktu dengan banyaknya tugas yang berulang. Pengujian manual dapat digantikan oleh pengujian otomatis di mana kita menggunakan software khusus yang akan melakukan pekerjaan melelahkan, dan kita bisa menghabiskan lebih banyak waktu dengan menciptakan logika kode pengujian.

Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) atau Test-Driven Development (TDD)?

Dua pendekatan utama yang digunakan framework pengujian otomatis adalah Test-Driven Development (TDD) dan Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD). Kedua metode tersebut mendorong proses pembangunan aplikasi yang didahului dengan penulisan kode pengujian sebelum kode aplikasi.

Perbedaan utama antara Test-Driven dan Behaviour-Driven terletak pada sintaks dari kode pengujian: TDD menggunakan kode PHP yang tepat dalam file pengujian, sementara BDD menggunakan kalimat yang bisasa dibaca manusia yang menggambarkan perilaku setiap fitur dan dapat dipahami oleh pemangku kepentingan yang sifatnya non-teknis (tidak mengerti kode PHP)

 

10 Frameworks Unit Testing PHP

1. PHPUnit

PHPUnit adalah framework pengujian yang paling terkenal untuk menulis Unit testing untuk aplikasi PHP. Unit test mengambil porsi kecil dari kode yang disebut unit dan melakukan pengujian satu per satu. Dengan bantuan PHPUnit kita dapat melakukan test-driven development.

PHPUnit ini dapat digunakan melalui baris perintah, dan menyediakan kelas TestCase yang dapat kita kembangkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan kita. PHPUnit juga memungkinkan pengembang untuk menggunakan metode pre-written assertion methods untuk menegaskan bahwa aplikasi berperilaku dengan cara tertentu.

Codeception tidak hanya memungkinkan kita untuk menulis unit testing tetapi juga fungsional dan Acceptance Test. Hearthside Chat: Un'Goro Quests with Peter Whalen

This Jungle Hides Many Secrets As we figured out the initial story behind Journey to Un’Goro, we realized that the core fantasy had four pillars: dinosaurs, elementals, exploration, and the primal world itself. Dinosaurs and elementals had their own mechanics, so we needed one more that made players feel like they were on an expedition, exploring the awe-inspiring landscape of Un’Goro Crater itself. The idea of creating quest cards had been floating around on our team for a very long time. Back when we were first working on Whispers of the Old Gods, one of the designers pitched a new type of secret: Quests. A Quest was only active on your turn, and when you completed its condition, something awesome happened! When we needed a mechanic for exploring a forgotten world to find something truly amazing, these Quests seemed like a natural fit. Give Me a Quest Once we decided to give Quests a real shot in Journey to Un’Goro, we began heavily iterating on them. We started out with the idea that Quests would be Legendary and the rewards would be fantastic—the core fantasy of a Quest is that you work hard and are richly rewarded. As we’ve seen, that core idea carried through to the present with powerful Quest rewards like Amara, Nether Portal, and Megafin—cards we couldn’t make any other way. Basically everything else about Quest cards changed. When we started out, we wanted Quests to feel as much like normal cards as possible, which would make them fit into the rules naturally while being easier to understand. The first Priest Quest, for example, said “When this is the only card in your hand, transform it into an Un’Goro pack.” Other Quests looked very similar to the ones that are coming in Journey to Un’Goro, and they had requirements like “play a certain number of minions of a particular type.” We quickly realized that the most fun Quests were the ones that asked you to accomplish something over the course of a game—those paid off the core Quest fantasy the most. One of the things we noticed with Quests that transformed in your hand was that they were hugely frustrating for your opponent. From an opponent’s perspective, you had just played an insanely powerful card seemingly out of nowhere. For example, this was the first version of the Priest Quest: To fix that, we required Quests cards to be played, and allowed both players to see their progress. In Un’Goro, Quests will appear around your portrait just like Secrets do. From there, we talked a lot about how Quests are played. We tried having them simply play themselves from your deck so they didn’t take up space in your opening hand, but that was a little too powerful. With no risk involved at all, every single deck would play Quests just in case they happened to satisfy the conditions, or simply to thin the deck by one card. On the other hand, having to draw a Quest felt really bad, because you couldn’t make progress on it until you drew it halfway through the game. That’s why we decided to have Quests start in your opening hand. Finally, we needed to decide how much mana Quests would cost, either (0) or (1). When they cost (0), playtesting revealed that players would often hold their Quest and then forget to play it before playing the card that triggered it. Making them cost (1) helped to slow the game down a little—letting the moment you played the quest feel more impactful—and required extra strategy around when to play the Quest. We still liked the overall power level the Quests had at (0), so we made the rewards a little better and the requirements a little easier to meet to balance things out. Seeing Double Once we had the mechanic for Quests figured out, they did a lot of great things for the set. On the art side, they gave us an opportunity to show off all the fantastical regions in Un’Goro Crater, from roiling tar pits and seething hot springs to the gleaming crystal caverns below. We relished every chance to bring the world of Un’Goro to life. On the design side, each class has a Quest to help anchor them in Un’Goro. We wanted the Quest decks to be fun and interesting, so we often provided additional support, like Tortollan Shellraiser and Crystalline Oracle in Priest. We think Quests are cool, but we also don’t expect every player to want to play with one in their deck, so we tried to make sure to provide other themes and individually interesting cards to explore, too. Because Quest cards are such a central focus of decks that include one, we wanted to make sure there was room to experiment with how you build a deck with a Quest in it. For example, a Unite the Murlocs deck could be very aggressive and play upwards of fifteen murlocs, while a less aggressive deck might use it as a way to get some late game oomph using only a handful of murlocs along with Call In the Finishers. Since we were making nine different Quests, one of our goals was that they feel different from each other. So far, we’ve shown several straightforward Quests: Summon seven minions with Deathrattle, summon ten murlocs, discard six cards, and so on. Those Quests are intuitive and offer a clear path for deckbuilding. However, some of our classes are naturally trickier than others, so for Rogue we went in a slightly different direction: Play four minions with the same name. How do you even do that? One option is to use cards that return minions to your hand like Shadowstep and Youthful Brewmaster. Another would be to use cards like Thistle Tea or Mimic Pod that give you multiple copies of a minion. Wait, what’s Mimic Pod? That’s one of the cards in Journey to Un’Goro that supports the Rogue Quest while also being interesting on its own: If you can create an army of pod-minions and successfully explore the Caverns Below, what do you find? Because your deck has so many tricks to successfully complete the Quest, we wanted to provide you with the raw power you’d need to end the game. The Quest mechanic has come a long way from its humble beginnings two years ago, but its core remains intact. In Journey to Un’Goro, you’ll explore a forgotten world, quest for amazing things, and unleash their primal power on the Hearthstone board.

HCT Winter Championship — Preview

The Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) hosts its first Championship event of 2017 beginning Thursday, March 23 in the Bahamas. You can catch all the action live over on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel, but we wanted to give you a bit of insight into what you can expect during this weekend’s tournament. The Tournament For the Winter Championship, HCT continues to use the Conquest format, now with best-of-seven matches and the ability for each player to ban one of their opponent’s classes — meaning competitors must bring five different classes total. Sixteen of the world’s best Hearthstone players are in attendance for the two-stage tournament. The group stage breaks the players up into four groups of four. Each group plays out in double elimination format. The top two players from each group then advance to a single elimination playoff bracket stage. Players are competing for a $250,000 prize pool and a spot in the Hearthstone World Championship. Regardless of their home region, the top four finishers in the tournament will qualify for the 2017 Hearthstone World Championship. This will also be the only event in this HCT cycle played using the current Standard format as part of the Year of the Kraken, as the Spring season and the remainder of the 2017 Championship Tour will fall within the Year of the Mammoth. The Players An impressive field of talent will be representing their respective regions at the first championship HCT stop this year. Long time Hearthstone fans will see names they may recognize from previous Hearthstone World Championships: Greensheep, Neirea, OmegaZero, Tarei, Yulsic, and the defending world champion, Pavel. Pavel has been on an unprecedented win streak — between Last Call in 2016, BlizzCon, and the 2017 Winter European Championship, he hasn’t played in an HCT tournament he hasn’t won since last summer. We also have some extremely talented breakout players from the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions, with surprise underdogs like DocPwn, DrJikininki, b787, and SamuelTsao upsetting established veterans in their respective playoffs. All eyes are on the European talent in this tournament, as the European region statistically has the most difficult path to qualification (requiring the most HCT points to compete in their playoff tournament). Click on the drop-down next to a player's name to see their five decks! First, and probably most excitingly, no two players are running the same five deck styles. The only two players who ended up bringing similar rosters are DrJikininki and Lvge, who are both running comparable Priest and Warrior decks, but noticeably distinct Rogue, Shaman, and Warlock decks. There is an even spread of Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior, with only a handful of players opting to bring Druid. Players from the Americas are strong proponents of Druid and its ability to beat late game decks, with three of their four players bringing it (albeit two very different styles of Druid!), but no one from Asia-Pacific is running Druid whatsoever. Europe is broadly avoiding Priest, with only Pavel bringing a Dragon Priest deck. The other European folks are erring toward winning early with Shaman or late with Druid. By contrast, all the Americas player brought a variant on Reno Warlock, and every Chinese player brought a version of Miracle Rogue featuring Questing Adventurers for the powerful swing turns they can pull off. Some of the regions also have unique secret weapons: Asia-Pacific players are the only ones bringing the Stealth-heavy Rogue list style that took Dwayna (a.k.a. TheBasedGod) to the top of the ranked leaderboard in February. Two European players are the only ones bringing Aggro Shaman to the tournament, aiming to steal quick wins with big burst damage. Special attention should be paid to fr0zen, who is both the only player not to bring Warrior to the tournament at all and the only player bringing a Malygos Druid list, as well as b787, whose unconventional lineup features the Winter Championship’s only Reno Priest and Control Warrior lists. Expect to see a lot of Warrior bans as players focus on strategies involving complex combos in Druid, Mage, or Rogue, or the raw board presence of Dragon Priest or Shaman. Lots of variety exists across every class save Warlock, where all 12 Gul’dan players have brought their unique take on how best to ensure we’re gonna be rich. Hearthside Chat: Elementals of Un'Goro with Mike Donais

When venturing into Un’goro, be on your guard—the crater is home to huge dinosaurs, challenging Quests and primordial Elementals! Today we’re going to take a closer look at how Elementals were designed and what they do. But first, check out this brand-new Shaman minion: When you play an Elemental, their latent energy sticks around and other Elementals can make use of it on the following turn. Many Elementals in Journey to Un’goro get a bonus effect if you played an Elemental on the previous turn. Elementals in your hand will light up with a unique glow when this bonus is active. There are a bunch of awesome new Elementals coming with Journey to Un’goro, but one Legendary Elemental takes the mechanic of soaking up elemental power to an extreme: Yes, we have definitely seen this guy reach 30 health. How did we come up with the Elemental mechanic? We want each minion type to have its own unique feel and gameplay. When working on the Blackrock Mountain adventure, we decided some cards should get a bonus while you’re holding a Dragon in your hand. This let Dragon decks focus on having large minions, and their mechanic mitigates the downside of holding onto an expensive Dragon while you wait to have enough mana. We knew we had to come up with something unique for Elemental decks that made them feel very different. During the initial design phase of a set, we explore a lot of ideas—even ones we know won’t work in the end—because iterating on those ideas helps us learn what kinds of things are fun. Maybe we try one mechanic that turns out to be bad, but along the way we discover a certain element of it is entertaining. We can then make a new mechanic that gets right to the heart of the fun. In Journey to Un’Goro, we knew we wanted to add Elementals, and we tried about 10 different mechanical designs. By playing with each design and discussing them, we narrowed in on the best ones. Eventually, we chose our favorite and adjusted all the Elementals to match the one we liked best. What other designs for Elementals did we try out? 1. Elementals get a bonus if you cast a spell this turn. 2. Elementals get a bonus if the last card you played was an Elemental. 3. Elementals get a bonus if the last minion you played was an Elemental. 4. Elementals get a bonus if you control another Elemental. 5. Elemental was a minion type and a spell type. 6. Gain Elemental Charges and spend them to power up Elementals. Each of these designs hit us with different problems or challenges, causing us to eventually arrive at the mechanic we shipped with. Do all the new Elementals have this new mechanic? No, there are plenty of other Elementals in the set. Check out the new cards Fire Fly and Flame Geyser - and their token, Flame Elemental: Both of these cards can help set up big plays by giving you 1-Cost minions you can play to power up your other Elementals. Previously, we revealed Pyros. Pyros is particularly great because it can help trigger your Elementals when you play each incarnation of him. Why do we like this mechanic for Elementals? Elementals are fun because you can plan future turns in advance and get rewarded for it. You end up playing your turn differently because you’re thinking about what you want to do on your next turn …and even the turn after. Some of the Elemental cards are particularly good in control decks. Notice how Stone Sentinel is a late game card that gives you two Taunt minions? Ozruk, the new Legendary Elemental, is a huge Taunt minion when played in a deck with lots of other small Elementals. What existing cards became Elementals? When we created the Elemental minion type, we knew we would want to change some existing cards to become Elementals. We went back and looked at every Hearthstone card one by one and decided which ones to change. Here are the 18 cards we changed into Elementals: Water Elemental Anomalus Ragnaros Lightlord Lightspawn Dust Devil Unbound Elemental Fireguard Destroyer Rumbling Elemental Earth Elemental Fire Elemental Neptulon Al’Akir the Windlord Arcane Anomoly Ice Rager Magma Rager Frost Elemental Baron Geddon Ragnaros the Firelord What you should expect from Elementals in Un'Goro There are about 25 new Elementals in Un’goro. We decided to put them primarily in Shaman and Mage because those are the classes that traditionally use elemental magic and summon things like Water Elementals and Fire Elementals. However, there are a bunch of Elementals in neutral and the other classes, so everyone can dabble in Elementals if they want to.
